Another
resort here along the beautiful Caliray Lake is the Lake Caliraya
Country Club. This particular resort has a reasonable price and
is easily accessible via the circumferential road passing through
the towns of Pagsanjan, Cavinti, and Lumban, Province of Laguna,
in the Philippines.
This resort is popular among families, weekend travelers and fieldtrip
groups by its beauty and relaxing atmosphere. Its location is
ideal.
Relatively near enough to have an easy drive but far enough to
be isolated. If you want to go to this resort, you had to take
a five-minute pump boat ride across the lake to reach the it.
It was a little funny, though, like taking a car to get to the
other side of the road.
From
the boat you could get a good view of the expanse of Caliraya
Lake, one of two man-made lakes which were built by American engineers
in the early-1940s. The lake is actually a large reservoir supplying
water to the Caliraya Hydroelectric Plant. Part of this infrastructure
project was the development of adjacent communities wherein people
can enjoy the ecological wonders of the area.
Today,
Caliraya is best known by out-of-towners as a weekend hideaway
where they can enjoy water sports such as boating, jetskiing and
windsurfing.
Also,
it is the only other place in the country aside from Lake Lumot,
where amateur and professional anglers can try their luck and
skill in catching the famed Largemouth Black Bass, reputed to
be one of the top freshwater game fish in the United States. For
the locals, catching black bass is more than just a hobby. The
tasty fish, which they interestingly call the “Black Mask,”
more often than not finds its way onto the dinner table.
